Firm Foundation Quartet Returns to First Baptist, Leon, KS
Return engagement for the Southern Gospel Quartet Firm Foundation will be on Saturday, June 21 at 6:00 PM and will take place at the First Baptist Church, Leon, KS. Those of you who attended their previous concert are well aware of the blessing we received from their performance. This time will be a special time for us, since it will be the first time for Marc Ray to appear as a member of this Southern Gospel quartet. Marc is the son-in-law of Cotton and Jenny Young and grandson-in-law of Joan Milene, all of Leon. Marc accepted the position as baritone and with God guiding their way and prayer, along with wife, Jessie and son, Aiden made the move to Owensboro, Kentucky. First Baptist remains their church home, Marc was our music director and played keyboard for services, they were also very active within our youth group. Their faith and enthusiasm for the Lord and his service are apparent in all their decisions and activities.
About Firm Foundation: With 6 years of ministry behind Firm Foundation, they've accomplished many things. God has brought them through the fire and kept them focused on His Message. In 2003, they were named the "Kentucky State Quartet of the Year' at the Kentucky State Fair. Not since 1949 had a quartet from their hometown of Owensboro held this honor. The following December, they're very first radio single "When I Lay My Burdens Down" debuted at #11 on the God's Country Gospel chart ... and the very next month the song was named the fastest rising radio single in the chart's history when it grabbed the coveted #1 spot. It was clear that God was laying a 'foundation' for the guys to spread his Word to others not only nationwide, but internationally. The song hit the European Country Music chart with a vengeance and stayed for a record 28 weeks. 18 Countries as far away as New Zealand, The Netherlands, Germany, and France were playing this small town group's music on their stations.
In 2006, gospel music industry critics praised their release “Good To Know”. Receiving 4 stars by sogospelnews.com and high marks from sgmusicforum.com, the album's first radio single, "Something Better In Mind" was on the prestigious 2007 Dove Award ballot for "Southern Gospel Recorded Song of the Year". It was clear that God had great intentions for the guys. The new album, to be released soon, will remain close to their roots of bringing quality songs, vocals, and above all.the message of Jesus Christ. “The fact that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, then arose from the grave is foundational within our ministry.”
