    AI7 Contestants - Girls

So, who has the early lead?  I like several of them.  Carly Smithson, Syesha Mercado, Brooke White and Alaina Whitaker to name several.  And, there's something about Kady Malloy that works for me.  I've heard some people say that they think she sneers to much.  What the February?  I think that's just the way she looks.  What do you think?

    Re: AI7 Contestants - Girls

Last night was Dolly Parton night on AI7, and Carly Smithson flat out NAILED her performance!  She took the bouncy "Here You Come Again" and arranged it to make it her own.  She slowed it down and stepped away from the rock songs she usually performs.  This was a side of Carly I knew existed and have been waiting for her to expose to the rest of us.  Absolutely fantastic!

As for who should go home, I'd be happy with either Ramiele Malubay or Kristy Lee Cook.  There's just nothing special there, at least in last night's performance.  If I had to choose between the two, I'd send Kristy home.  Bland as a bowl of bread soaked in milk.

Brooke White continues to show promise by not being the worst performer of the night.  But she really needs an emotional over-the-top delivery to start hanging on much longer.  She's a very cute, sweet girl, but that won't be enought to keep her around in the coming weeks.

Syesha performed "I Will Always Love You" very well.  Simon needs to get over the fact that Whitney Houston has performed songs in the past and accept these current performances for what they are.  If Whitney had never recorded this song, Simon would have been blown away by Syesha's version.  Of course it wasn't as stellar as Whitney's version, but we're not comparing these performances against hers.  We're judging these on their own merit.  So put your infatuation with Whitney Houston aside, and lets give AI7 a chance.

Based on what I saw last night, my vote goes to Carly.  And it did...over and over and over again until my fingers got tired of dialing.

Kristy Lee Cook is finally gone.  I think it was owed to us since Michael Johns was voted off so early in the competition.
